Modding drop-in K&N...

I replaced my stock filter with a K&N, I noticed the K&N doesn't have the cone on the end to direct flow like the stock filter does. I pulled the cone off, shaved it down for a clean finish, and siliconed it on the end of the K&N. Haven't put it back in yet, will at lunch.
Has anyone else tried this? Any noticable increase anywhere?

Did you use sensor safe silicon? If not be sure it thourouly cures or you will have O2 sensor problems. Cool idea though.
