Change your name...?

you keep pushing your truck like that and you'll have to change your name to "ripped-n-cut" or perhaps "Arnold"

Have you got your truck running yet?

Oh sorry. I've been busy catching up on things after 4 days without my ride.

Took it to the dealer. Tech: "It's the starter". Okay, fine. Acted all innocent to see what happens. A days goes by... "It's not the starter, we're putting the starter back on". LOL. Duh!! Another days goes by.. "You seem to have fluid above the 6th cylinder. The intake manifold gasket has failed allowing coolant into the engine". Lean: "No, this is what happened... TBC..." Service advisor: "No no no, we're going to run a compression test... damage... blah blah blah... Your bill just doubled" LOL. "We'll call you after the compression test." Lean: "Call me with the results to get my approval to replace intake manifold gasket". Called my commercial tech friend to see what he says.. "What does the intake manifold gasket have to do with coolant?" Friend calls back: "I don't think they're lying to you, let them work on it". Another day goes by, no call. Lean on the way to dealership, hacked off b/c no ride on a Friday night: "Do you have the results yet??". Service advisor: "Sure, come on down!". Walk in, "Hey, we're done! You have a brand new truck! Here's your bill, we're pulling your truck up front". Wth?!? Bottom line: ~$1400. New plugs, oil, coolant, battery, thermostat... along with a bunch of flushes... Also, broken electrical cover. New one on the way. Major scratches on door panel, working on that one. $300 radar detector's voice alert "mysteriously" stopped talking. Don't really care about that one, detector is 3 weeks old, will exchange it and let the store eat the cost. Soo.. truck's purring like a kitten now, or howling like a wolf, w/e. As long as no more rides in Nissans. Actually used blinkers for the first time since.. last month.. for fear of being run over by monster F-150s and SUVs. Being able to take corners @ 30 is cool though. Hehe. Sure can't do that in a truck..

LeanNCut,

Wow!!! Turned out to be quite an event.

I've been through that myself. It's a shocker to hear that the lower intake is leaking and how much you'll need to pay to have it fixed. I've also had my lower intake manifold gaskets replaced because of coolant leaking. Mine leaked into the oil though. It can go either way. It does happen. The SA wasn't confused; thinking that there was coolant rather than TBC filling the cylinder with fluid. The lower intake manifold is connected to both heads as well as the engine block.

What did you have to pay $1,400.00 for though. The intake gaskets cost about half that to replace. Did they charge for all the time they searched for the problem??? I'd say your truck should last virtually forever now.

What year truck do you have???
