In my area, all the oil is recycled into something that consumers with boilers burning Bunker C can use.

Cooking oil is recycled into Bio Diesel.

If you cared about poluting the air you won't be driving a vehicle with an internal combution engine.

Most waste oil furnaces completely burn ALL of the oil and MOST of the byproducts produced when buring oil. They operate cleaner than the average wood stove.

LOL, you really don't know?

You mean you've never had a cup of their coffee waiting for your oil change?

I dump it in a oil-dump inside a gas station close-by.

They sell it real cheap to GM where they have plastic body parts made for Avalanches and Azteks. The rest they use at the Chevy engine plant as break-in oil. Ha ha.

The County FireHouses have recycle tanks where you dump your used oil. They also have cans where you throw the used filters and bottles.

I take mine to the local gas station where they have a recycling dump.

As far as I know, the oil is re-refined and filtered and sold as that $0.50/quart cheapo crap Wal-Mart generic oil that all those cheap bastards buy.

I put mine in my mother-in-laws cooking oil bottle.
LOL... that's pretty funny. I guess you REALLY get along with your mother-in-law... ha ha.

Maybe we should sell it as very CHEAP sex lube or something.

As much as I agree with recycling you won't find any of that crap in my motor. They don't make filters fine enough to remove suspended aluminum dust and other mineral matter that magnetic filters can't remove. Most modern engines have a few different alloys in them that wear into the oil.

Where does the oil go? Ever eat "edible oil products" like coffee mate?

Seriously, I used to build plants for a company that collects it, re-refines it (cracks it), and sells it as diesel. Once they have created the diesel, they sell it back to the major oil companies who throw in their additive packages and sell it retail.

As far as cleaning it, oil that comes from an engine after 5000mi is a lot cleaner than the oil that has been in the ground for a million years.
