does this work

Does the poweraid throttle body spacer or any of the throttle body spacers actually work??? I've been considering putting them on but I've heard they're not worth a crap. Don't mean to start a he said she said but would like to know if anyone has it and if it works or not??
Thanx

Thumbs down

most people will tell you that they are expensive paper wieghts. but there are SOME people who have reported a slight boost in performance. i personally am leaning toward the paper wieght theory...but thats me. on the other hand...they are under a 100 bucks so you will not be too bad off if it doesn't work. just my .02

I would take that $100 of yours and put it toward some electric fans -- something that really works.

The opinion of most folks around here is save your dough. I think they had a place on carburated engines.

Adding plenum volume has been around for a long time. (Carb spacers, and tunnel rams) Seat of the pants will you notice?, maybe not. They will add lenght to the intake track, which helps cylinder filling at lower rpms, for better torque production. Look at the upper intake on a 5.0 mustang, long runners.
However it may hinder airflow at higher rpms, reducing HP on the top end.
Those with grooves cut into them to spin the air seem to me that they would lessen airflow.
I installed a TFS phenolic spacer, ($50.00 smooth on the inside) I did notice a slight pick up in torque, that I had lost when I put the exhaust on. Little better throttle response.

Thanx guys and gals that's the kind of input I was looking for. I think I'll wait till next year I still have to put on my pulleys and electric fans and my 3 inch body lift. I was just so curious if they worked or not. I always think of older carbuerated motors and the spacer appealed to me. I'm gonna hafta kick the old motor in the head habit and get used to these newer motors.

Thanx again
