ya i was going to ask you what you thought best and that was the one that i was looking into but still undecided on Nitrous or a blower....(5.4 navigator) now this brings me to another question what tranny should i use....i don't think my 4r70w can get the job done......and where did u find that information about the engines? thanks for your help Flea i greatly appriciate it!

The info on the engine's in the ole' noggin. Personally, if I were going to build up my truck, I'd use a 6-spd from a SuperDuty with that DOHC 5.4L and Cast pistons..... <drools> But if you want to go with an Auto, the 4R100W is the way to go. Try to get one that's Diesel or Lightning-prepped. It will handle the power a lot better than a 4r70w.

Oh yea, and go with a blower. You get more even power all the time, so it's easier on the engine. Plus you don't have to pay to refill the air in the 'charger. You just fire the truck up.

Here comes the tough part...

Well, you can obviously get them from the dealer, but I wouldn't recommend that (bill= 1 arm, 1 leg, 3 ribs, a kidney, left half of the brain, 1 lung and 47% of the liver). Your best bet would be to maybe try to find something on E-bay or get a crate engine. Maybe Neal could tell you where he got his?

As far as the transmission goes, you'd be better off getting something used and rebuilding it, since you're gonna be making some pretty serious power there, looks like. Perhaps something from a totaled vehicle thats been rearended or something. Check around junkyards before you start searching for higher-priced pre-built engines.

Good luck

nnewman@sympatico.ca <--- shoot him an E-mail. He's a good guy, and I'm sure he'd be willing to help you with finding a good block.
