Unhappy New 5.4l w/oil smoke?

Hi all,

My 5.4l S'crew was parked uphill at about a 15% grade to my workshop while loading good junk for yard sale. I left it parked in this position for about 5 hours. When I finally started it, a lot of light blue smoke came from the exhaust. It only lasted during initial startup and the engine fired right up. I assumed it was engine oil burning off. Way too scary.....

I only have 2300 miles on the truck and I drive it responsibly.

Any reason why engine oil (or trans oil for that matter) should be getting into the cylinders or intake while parked on a grade? Of course I checked both levels and they are as full as the day I drove home as far as I can tell.

Thanx for the info....

it depends on how much smoke, this is most likely happening because your still "breaking in" the truck and its normal for engines to burn oil in "break in"

its normal. i have seen this sevral times. like when you start it up move it very short dist. like in or out of driveway. or from one spot to another. with out letting warm up. then next time you start it, there is that nasty looking smoke. no biggy. and like he said. its still breaking in.
