Keep the maintenance up on it and nothing will get through. Five months and nothing shows up inside. Could I just get the filter itself from ford? Just another blue thing for me if I can get it. Trying to go with a blue theme.

Can you believe this, after taking out my K&N air filter my milage went back up. First tank 17.8 mpg.
I thought my milage was lower after I installed that gause filter. Figured it was because the computer had to adjust now I am quite sure my milage suffered with it in there.

Any body want a K&N air filter complete with unused cleaner and oil. Filter has 3000 miles on it.I'll let it go cheap.....

IMHO the K&N lets through the minute particles that kill your engine with wear scars. It's the dirt you can't see that is the problem. I won't run one and I don't buy the horsepower claims.

I don't either...

I don't buy HP claims either. If it makes you happy, do it.

BTW< some dirt's GONNA get in your engine. I don't think a K&N lets more in than any other. It'd be pretty dang easy to PROVE in a relatively cheaply made machine that one filter was better than another.

With all the peeps out there complaining about K&N (no one made you buy it, btw), I'd imagine someone woulda done another study implicating this... but I've not seen one.

Again, I must state the problem of over-cleaning these things. They're most efficient when slightly dirty. People see a dusting on them of something and go insane! They use the whole can of oil on one filter job.

Not the way to go bros. If there is so much oil on the gauze it can't hold it all it'll leave the filter in the direction of airflow (towards your precious motor!), carrying with it trapped dirt.

I know we don't like to. But read the directions, I'm pretty sure its spelled out in there someplace.

I'll just tell you this. My wife's 97 3.8 Mustang has 100,000 miles on it. It runs like a brand new one only better. It doesn't burn a drop of oil. It's had a K&N filter since 12,000 miles or so.:o

Cool

I had one in but took it out and am now running a Motorcraft filter. The K&N filter does not fit tight in the housing like original equip. filter. It kinda flops around and why isn't it shaped the same as the original? As far as horepower gains well there may be some but you aren't going to feel it.

I had K&N E-0945 in my truck before I installed the FIPK. IT FIT PERFECTLY. Are you sure you have the right one, or have it installed correctly?

You know what, this total thread is +#(*$^Y** re****ulus, why would anyone buy a K&N in the first place "performance". I dare one of you to say you bought it for better filtration. Hey if it does not meet your needs switch back. If you are so ^&*(*=+@) torn between giving up your performance and your white glove I smell like a hospital clinic cleanliness, then dish out the $$$$ for a oil analysis. Personally I purchased it for performance gains and I believe I got them. I think guys can state all day that there truck has so much gain back since they switched back to that hospital gauze, but until someone can prove it, it is just like those chat rooms, Yeh I'm a 24 year old model from Sweden you want to meet! I love this site and think there is great info here to be had, but this ain't it. you can please some of them all of the time but you can't please all of them all of the time

You'll get more of a gain with the FIPK. The filter by itself isn't going to add as much power. Then you won't have to worry about it flopping around either.

Mine fits perfectly also. Now they did try to sell me the wrong one. I walked out into the parking lot and tried to install it and it wasn't the right filter. I put it back in the box went back in and made them order the correct filter.
