The class action is most likely dead. The lawyer that was handling it does send updates any more.

If you want a diesel, here is where you can get a new 4.5L V6 PowerStroke before Ford releases them in the 09 F150...

Damn! I should have read all this before I bought my '02 5.4 what a let down, was all happy about my purchase. Truck has 90,500 miles on it, should I check to see if any of the plugs are loose or something? Will this happen to every single 5.4 engine out there?

Hi I'm Ryan, and my truck's a plug popper

I feel like we should start some kinda support group here
I just blew #1 on a drive through the mountains pulling a 3000# trailer. Got lucky was able to thread it back in and but the busted cop back on, ziptie it in place and limp back home. Pulled the plug when I got back, put the bore scope down the hole, only half of the top thread was damaged, so I decided to just throw the plug back in, torqued to spec (as I did the first time).
I'll just use this as incentive to get on building a motor for it I guess

Yeah Right.... I am sure all the Ford Dealers pull your truck into the shop and shut it off and wait for the engine to cool down before changing your spark plugs.

Don't helicoil - if you want to do it yourself, do Timesert. Otherwise, to REALLY do it right:

good luck on that jap crap, and SHAME ON YOU for not torquing the plugs in your F-150, not the trucks fault, most likely the nut holding the steering wheel getting replaced with make it a better truck

For a plug to blow out of a 2006 4.6, it must of not have been torqued much at all.

06' King Ranch

My truck has 95ish thousand miles and yesterday an a military transfer across country, the engine blew up. The dealership said the crankshaft barrings were worn out and that caused the crankshaft to slip back and forth thus causing a knock. In a short amount of time that knock led to the rear seal blowing out and loss of oil pressure. I called the Ford 800 number and expressed my concerns with the engine problems and the best answer they and was.......sorry that happened. I told them I wasn't happy with that answer and if that is the best they have, I am no longer a Ford guy!

From reading this blog, there are several issues ranging from plugs to valves leading to a host of concerns that seem to go unanswered by Ford Motor Company. If I buy a $40K truck, I expect to at least get 200K out of the engine before there are major issues.

Bottom line--I think there needs to be some sort of recall on the 5.4l engine. Ford needs to make this right if they want to keep my business!!!
