Off topic, Flowmaster question...need louder!

....but maybe it's just me. After having a 40 Series si/do Flowmaster, 2.25" tailpipes, and 3.25"x22" tips installed, the tone of the sound is great, but I just want more volume! Maybe the muffler shop installed the 50 series instead. Is there any way to tell the difference from the outside of the muffler? I don't know, I've just heard so many people say the 40 series is pretty loud, but it seems to be relatively tame to me. I've heard some F-150s with Flowmaster exhaust that REALLY roar, but mine just doesn't seem to sound as loud as theirs. Maybe it's because I'm always in the cab of my truck, and I don't get the full effect of the volume and tone of my truck. Will headers make a difference in the sound? Some people have said that I should take the flowmaster off and just run the pipes....then I'm stuck with having to try to sell a used flowmaster, and I've got $210 in a $150 set up. Somebody please help....I'm totally lost on this situation. Only got a couple of responses on this question before so any further input would be exremely appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

I just put on a Flowmaster 40 series delta flow si/so and it is not that loud. I haven't really heard it from outside the cab either. It does give a nice growl when you get in the gas, and rumbles quietly at idle, but otherwise it isn't that noticable.

There are several kinds of Flowmaster 40 series mufflers and I think that the non-delta flow ones are a little louder. I like mine because the sound is there when you want it but not all of the time.

Later...
