Question

chssn,
I saw in your post that you have a K/N FIPK Gen 2. Does the gen 2 have a heat shield on it, and do you have any picks of it installed on your truck? I've been looking at purchasing one but wasn't sure what the difference was with the gen 2.

Sorry, no photos. The Gen 2 does not have a heat shield and upon receipt of the box, I called the folks at K/N and they advised that the Fords do not need them based on their testing. I was fooled by the photo in the ad, which of course was for a different application. Overall I am happy though. The install was pretty straightforward and it took under an hour. I am not a mechanic and I just figured at $15.00 a pop, stock air filters would exceed the cost of the K/N in under 100k. For real savings just by the K/N filter and don't bother with the kit.
