Do some searches, and look in the Lightning forum as well. A post about 2 days ago has a guy buying his own replacement engine in a 2000 L I think it was. Splitfire exploded the tip, and 2 to 3 more were about to go.

Keep in mine, no matter how many contacts a plug has, only the shortest arch will actually fire. Thos multi contact type plugs just last longer, usually. There are many posts and I'd say most are either negative or nothing special. MOst would agree a good set of platinums like what comes in them are the best.

Splitfire=JUNK and Problems. Autolite Platinum's in mine. I like Champion and NGK plugs to.

Just my .02 worth.

I've had mixed luck with them in the past. They were AMAZING in a '94 Blazer but did nothing for a '93 Civic. Since nobody is raving about them around here I would guess they fall into the "do nothing" category for our trucks.

I ran them in a turbo Probe once and the pressure blew out between the metal and ceramic. I couldn't figure out the problem. It cost me $30 to have a dealer tell me my plugs were bad. They were only a couple of months old. JUNK!

I ran them in a turbo Porsche and ended up in a class-action lawsuit against them, they didn't explode or blow anything out, but they burned too hot and burnt out the top of 2 of my pistons, and it cost me almost $4000 to have it fixed. I switched to Bosch Platinums, and they have worked fine for me ever since. I never used the Platinum plus 4's, just the standard one tip platinums. I haven't changed yet in my F-150, though, but I'm getting ready to go for it very soon. Good luck!

I agree with what everyone else says, stay away, they are useless just like oil additives. I read a test in trailerboats magazine on a chev 454 boat motor and when they added splitfires there was no difference on the dyno. Just a waste of money.

Platinum plugs are ok if you are running them in a vehical where detonation really isn't an issue. The pretty much run hotter and keep themselves clean longer. In a boosted vehical you do not want to run a plug like this. You want something cold that will not melt a piston or lift a head on you. In my mustang I have always run NGK or Autolites.
