97 F150 4.6l 4X4, started at 29,000 miles. Has 37,000 on it know and still has a rough idle, Had in the dealer 5 times. Still not fixed, dealer tells me that if the computer shows no codes I have no problems, even if he can feel the truck idle rough.

Every sugestion and tip has been applied to my problem and nothing seems to make a difference.

$22,000 for a truck the idles like a $1500 used truck with 250,000 miles on it.

Not happy about that and the Ford dealer is telling me that they can not do anything for me. Truck is out of warranty now, and my wife does not like to drive it because she does not trust it, thats alot of money spent on a truck that she wont drive.

NOTE: I have a 01 Expedition with a 4.6l, no rough idle problems, I leased this one.

Note: The 01 Expedition is gone, I replaced it with a 04 EB Expedition

Mine has it. '97 F-150 4.6. It had the bad idle when I purchased it used. I had a F-150 4.2 that had a bad idle and would stall on me. Ended up getting me T-boned in an intersection. Got rid of it for another rough idle. Atleast this one doesn't stall.

I have a 5.4 and have had a rough idle since about 5k. I just placed a new post about a phone call I received today from a Ford engineer about my problems. It is in this forum if you are interested. I will update it once I talk to him.

My truck has had a rough idle since it was new. I told the service mgr about it when I took it in for it's first oil change. He told me that Ford knows that there is a problem, but that they don't know how to fix it. On cold winter mornings, the whole truck shakes. Has this mystery been solved yet, it's too depressing to read 6 pages of post about brand new trucks idling like junk.

THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION EVERYONE. KEEP IT COMING. ONE DAY FORD WILL WAKE UP AND DECIDE SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT ALL US DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS. BUT WHILE WE WAIT KEEP THE INFORMATION COMING.

5.4 2000 extended cab and yes I has a rough idle. Started as a bump in the idle at 4000 miles by 6000 it was a full blown rough idle. Feels kind of like those huge dirt sifters you see in a quarry.
Have yet to hear about anyone having fixed their rough idle. Only way to rid yourself of the problem is to take on Ford at the arbitration board and/or court. I will renew my efforts and get the requirements met to invoke the lemon law. My family drives in it and I don't want them getting t-boned because I was too lazy to take on Ford.
