Question 302 EFI swap to 460 carburetor

Hey guys.
I'm swapping my 302 EFI/4wd E4OD trans out of my 1991 F-250 for a 460 big block/C6 trans out of a 1983 f-250.
This truck going to be for off-road only so all the emmissions stuff could be ripped out.
I have the complete (1983) truck,so i have all the wiring harnesses.
How do i convert the high pressure fuel pump to the mechanical that the 460 uses?
Also my (1991) has dual fuel tanks.
Any suggestions for installation would help.

you'll probably be fine running the original electric pump that's on your truck now, but be careful to make sure that it pushes enough gas. my friend had this problem on an 88 chevy that he dropped a built 355 into... (original motor was a 305)

at around 5000 rpm the engine ran out of gas, the hp/torque curves looked wierd because hp would increase steadily to 5000 and then slowly drop off, and this was wierd because the cam and intake were optimized to peak hp in the 6300-6500 range.

we figured out that the problem was that he was sucking gas w/a mechanical fuel pump through the (disconnected) stock electric fuel pump. we removed the mechanical pump and there was a HUGE noticeable difference (at least 100 hp)... but it still ran out of steam at around 6000. next he put in a high-flow holley electric pump in place of the stock electric pump and we finally got the power we were after, engine pulls very strong right up to 7000 rpm.

anyway, i hope this helps... you'll probably need quite a bit of fuel flow for a 460 (this was only a 0.030 over 350 with edelbrock heads/intake/carb, and a fairly tall cam... makes about 340 hp at the wheels)
