Post horsepower

Does anyone know the horsepower differeance between a 98 4.6 and a 99 4.6--looking to get a new truck and I know the 99 has more power but, I'm wondering how much more.

HI!... SUMMITMAN : The "97" to "2000" TRITON 4.6's all have 220H.P. The "2001" went to 231H.P I believe. The 5.4 "PI" in "99" had more H.P than the "97" to "98" 5.4's, 235H.P vs. 260H.P. Hope this helps you out.

Question

so, is it just the trans shift pattern and rear axle that makes it feel stronger in a 99 vs a 98 or is it just me.

HI!... SUMMITMAN : It might just be you. Were the two you drove identical? dID THEY HAVE THE SAME REAREND GEAR RATIOS? That would make a huge difference if one truck had 3.08 gears and the other had 3.55 gears.

Mine is the 98 & it has 3.55> I don't know what the 99 has in it.
