Red face Home made intake

I installed a homecrafted intake from a 3" exhaust pipe bent in a 90 degree angle. the only thing is I think I've lost something.
While I have gained some mid throttle responce I have lost instant throttle responce.
My main question is, will the bend in the 3" exhaust pipe restrict the air flow more than the stock plastic intake? It is bent in such a way that the pipe is about half as deep as it should be non-bent. I think my instant throttle problem is because of the bend.
I am thinking of replacing my new intake with PVC. What does everyone think? Has anyone done this same thing before? I have read the other threads and haven't seen any other folks with the same issue.
Thanks
Jwrape

jwrape,

How was the pipe bent? It has to be mandrel bent to keep from restricting the air flow. Check out http://www3.sympatico.ca/jmc.chartier/air1.html That is what I did.

Cool

HI!... JWRAPE : I used a HEDMAN 3.5 inch 90 degree mandrel bent primary tube. PART # 12006. I then bought a "MEGS" tapered exhuast tip and cut it to match the 3.5 inch diameter 90 degree bend and cut the other end to match up to my TB. I then TIG welded the tip to the bend. I then drilled two holes for my EGR hoses and welded on nipples fro the hoses to slide over. Hope this helps you out.
