1998 5.4L High Idle
Started my truck this morning and noticed that my engine is now idling at 1,500 RPM. Truck was running fine the day before.
I pulled the connector off the TP sensor and idle fell to normal. Re-connect the TP sensor, idle jumps back up to 1,500 RPM.
Tried driving the truck with the TP sensor disconnected and it bucked and kicked, so had to reconnect.
Put my AutoXRay on the truck and there are no pending trouble codes. The AutoXRay shows the TP sensor reading 22% at idle... seems a bit high to me... When I stomp the pedal, the TP sensor shows 93% (I would have expected 100%). Not sure if I have a bad TP sensor or not. Can someone tell me what the normal value should be at idle?
Any other suggestions? Thanks!
