Natural Gas V8???
The F150 has an available Natural Gas Engine available for the 5.4L V8. Just exactly how does this truck run on natural gas, and oil? I have not seen this offer made for the 4.2L V6, which is what I am considering for the Sport 4x4. I have a better chance of getting it manual, and the gas mileage would be better. But is the natural gas engine something different?

Years ago we used to put propane conversions on our carborated cars, and run them on propane. We always figured a 10% loss of effiiciency between gasoline and propane, both power and consumption. I would guess the natural gas version is not not much more than an updated version of the propane conversion we used 40 years ago, one that will work with injectors and not upset the computer. Benefits are it will burn a lot cleaner, no carbon buildup, and oil stays cleaner longer. We used to see a major cost benefit, but now with current costs, and road taxes, I'm not sure what the comps would be.

Most Ford trucks in Holland and europe are running on natural gas cause it is a lot cheaper than gasoline.
Euro 0.41/litre for natural gas, Euro 1.15 for gas. (1 Euro=1$)
MPG for n gas is a little bit less than for gasoline.
The latest is called LPI.
Liquid Propane Injection.
Per 4 cylinders, the natural gas is injected.
One of my members truck is equipped with a LPI installation and is superchipped.Estimated hp 271
Good thing is when you truck is registered to your business you pay a lot less road taxes too.
Bad thing is LPI cost a lot of money to install. ($3000-$4000)

My apologies, natural gas is not the same as propane.
Trucks are running on LPG here and not natural gas.
My mistake.
You will probably see more natural gas engines on the road soon.
I understand there is a new emissions law in California that could become the standard for whole USA.
I know there is a lot of talking going on about this new law.
Saw a news-item about it on Dutch TV, yesterday evening.
Saw a couple of Ford's too.

natural gas and propane engines are GUTLESS!!!! That's why they only offer the option on the 5.4, so there will at least be some power. A 4.2 on Natural gass or propane would feel like having a 4 cyl in your F150.
