check engine light (yet another one)
My check engine light came on the other day while I was driving. It didn't flash when it came on it just popped up. There was no noticable change in engine condition so I kept driving, I reset the computer when I got home the other day. Well, the light came back on again today. No flashing, no engine change. Is the fact that it doesn't flash a good sign or a bad one? I noticed a little blue smoke when I started it up the other morning. It has 114,000 miles on the 5.4l.
Thanks for your help,
Travis

A flashing light is a bad thing. At least,
I believe that's what the owners manual says.
My check engine light would come on and stay
on for a few days then go off on its own. I
probably drove it over 500 miles with it on.
I never had a problem. I just took it to
the dealer and they replaced a EGR valve. I
believe EGR was what he said. It was a while
back. Check your owners manual, it's
probably something small like a sensor of
some sort. Good luck.

My check engine light came on about 5,000 miles ago at 103,000 miles. I pulled over, checked under the hood and the engine was still there. So i have been driving it like that ever since.
the few check engine lites I've got were all EGO sensor codes. it pays to buy a code scanner if you're out of warrenty cause a dealer scan is over $50 + retail parts + labor.
