To get what you described, not much increase in sound and you tow with it, hands down without a doubt, the Gibson Swept Side.

When I cranked mine up in the garage after installing it, I couldn't tell a difference in sound. Now it does sound better but only a low sweet big block kind of rumble, yet at idle, barely that.

As for towing, increased torque yada, yada. Go to their site to see what they say. The Swept Side is designed exactly for that.

By the way, some of the ones you listed are definetly not in a class of what you described as what you're looking for. I've heard 2 people now complain that the K&N was much louder and somewhat annoying, and, K&N has thrown in the exhaust business towel siting too much competition.

If you want to see the Swept Side installed, check out my sig. Also click on the Gibson Swept Side in my sig for another picture closer, not better though. I don't remember which pictures are on the site, but you can also listen to it. Keep in mind, the recordings aren't good, and one makes it sound much louder than it is. It was done right next to the tail pipe.

You can also search for post by me and a couple others where we posted pictures of the exits. One is a Dual Sport so it looks like the Swept Side x 2.

Good Luck. The Swept Side definitly fits what you've described, hands down. For information on the Superchip, post in the Computer Chips forum and Mike Troyer can help you out, or see his phone # and give him a call. Oh, and I'll bet he'll recommend the Gibson SS as well.

Post best exhaust for 5.4?

i want to add a cat-back, airaid, and superchip to my mom's expy. we tow with it. what would be the best catback that would add power without adding too much sound. i hear that rear exits bounce off the trailer and make defening renosense in the truck. so i will stick to side exits even thought split rear looks cool.
so far the contest is between:
gibson split side
gibson swept side
dynomax single
magnaflow
k&n(little pricy)

which would be the best for our truck?
thanks
