I appreciate all this information - and the various opinions - but it reminds me of the days I use to work in court and the expert witnesses for the plaintiff and the defendant would put their hands on the Bible and testify to exactly the opposite stories. I am totally confused as to which is the best product (although I've been leaning towards Amsoil) for my new truck. If I could come to a conclusion on which manufacturer's oil, then I have to decide which weight - 5/20 or 5/30 (and, yes, I know I've heard the warranty issues - but many a contributor to this issue has said Ford only did it because of the mileage factor. Talk about the "jury being out," I'm totally confused! (But that won't keep me from continuing to read.)
Thanks, guys (and gals).

Wink

I have a friend who actually ran a test of oils for a project. The sythetics all outperformed the regular oils. He said the ONLY synthetic oil that was significantly better than any other synthetic was Royal Purple. It won every test they performed. Having said that and believing him, I still run Mobil1 5w30 because it's good and I can get it anywhere.

BBB,
You asked for "qualified credentialed oil experts" to give you answers. If you e-mail me I'd be glad to answer your questions. And Yes I'm a qualified credentialed oil expert. I believe that over 22 years in the oil business and a Certified Lubrication Specialist by the STLE (Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers) would qualify me to answer your questions.

Sincerely,
Kevin Dinwiddie STLE CLS

Thumbs up

Craig O is correct....I have used Royal Purple for 5 years both in the truck and in the industrial area. It kicks butt on any synthetic in all areas including a simple falex test and timken 4 ball wear test, not to mention the race track performance. Ask Warren Johnson and Matt Hines what they use...
