fan probs need help NOW!
sorry for be demanding
but this is what went wrong
i can tell the fan shourd (i cant spell it) the thing that gaurds ur fingers from going into fan and directs air thru radiator
it moved on its own
and now the fan doesnt move (stuck)
everything under the hood that covers something (all plastic covers) they are all moved around
and it happened while the truck was sitting at idle for about 5mins with the air on
the only thing that it could have been caused by is the compressor going on and off (maybe because the temp outside was about 65*)
its the 4.2l with 5speed
1998 model
help me out peepz

I'm not sure if you are being serious or pulling a joke, 'cause I can not imagine anything causing all the plastic covers under the hood to move.
But if only the shroud seems to have moved, and you have checked its mounting hardware so you know it is OK, then the reason the fan is hitting it is most likely that you have a broken motor mount and the engine has shifted postion slightly. Check the drivers side mount, this is the one that takes the brunt of engine torque and is usually the one which fails.

I guess its possible that the AC cycling on my have caused just enougn of a jerk on the motor for it to finally slip the last little bit to cause the fan to touch the shroud.
Like Crash! said, when you apply a load, like pulling away from a stop, the engine will actually lift up and then usually sit back down at idle. But they don't always sit back exactly straight in the mount, and that may be your problem. If the engine is sitting crooked it could also make the other items in the engine compartment look out of place, which could be the reason for the various plastic covers looking as though they have moved too.
Hope that's what it is since mounts are fairly cheap and pretty easy to change. Good luck with it.
