Question Heater Hoses

Has any one changed their coolant hoses on the 4.6 V8? I bought the radiator hoses at Pep Boys but they don' list the heater hoses. The Dealer says they are two seperate part numbers and cost about $22 apiece.
Two local suppliers only list one hose for about $11. Is it possible to use the same hose on both the inlet and outlet of the heater core?

Thumbs down heater hoses

The heater hoses are two seperate items and in order to change them the dash will have to be ripped apart since ford had a better idea and put the clamps on the interior side of the for wall. My truck has 107000 miles on it and the heater core just blew so wait until mist starts coming out of the vents and then change the core and the hoses at the same time.

WOW, they sure don't make them user friendly any more! I have less than 36K on the truck and hopefully flushing and new 5 year coolant will help preserve the heater core.

Heater hose removal

Heater hoses are relatively easy to replace. They have quick release squeeze connections at the firewall. I used a long needle nose pliers with a 90 degree bend at the end. I just squeezed and pulled and they came right off. Both hoses are different. One has a restrictor in it.( the one carrying fluid to the core, it has a clamp in the middle). I think they cost a lot due to the quick release connectors.

One is under the intake manifold. Don't think I'll be changing that one soon
