Need Feedback on the WMS Velocity Tube...
I love the archives here! Several of our F150 brethren ordered the WMS Velocity Tube around the end of December. I like the premise of this product and from my days on Corvetteforum.com, I can tell you that the battle cry of "cold air rules!" echoes through their threads. I'd like to hear from those who have tried this product, feedback good or bad, just bring it on!

I recently had one for about a year, and it did work prety well with slight increase in performance. I just upgraded to a K&N FIPK and works ALOT better.

Put mine on last week. BIG difference. I made a recent post concerning my results on the Supercrew forum. I don't see how any FIPK could work better, especially if you open up the cold air intake to 3" as I did.

I've had mine for about a year now. Installation was pretty easy - the two small tubes that intersect the velocity tube near the throttle body didn't line up very well. They were off by about 1.5" and needed some 'adjustment'. Other than that everything looks solid.
You can run the stock paper filter if you are one of those weirdos that think the K&N will ruin your engine. Since the stock paper filters are like $18, I figured a K&N made good sense no matter what.
I like the cold air intake idea but I probably could have made this kit myself if I were a bit more resourceful... All you need to make one is a 3" mandrel bent exhaust tube, some rubber sewer pipe couplings (available at the hardware store), and some misc. fittings and clamps. you could get really fancy and neck the tubing down to match the throttle body and even weld on the 3 fittings. I think Neal the HP Freak made his own and it was a nice setup.
Overall it is a decent product at a decent price. All things considered, I would have bought an AirRaid if I had more money at the time. I may still re-work mine so it is more like Neal's setup one of these days. Also, I wouldn't mind adding some self-adhesive silicone foam insulation to the tube to eliminate the heat transfer into the intake air.

I have had mine for about 6 months. It helped a little but nothing like what I was hoping for. As far as fit and finish goes I think it is a POS. First off the directions SUCK, it took my mechanic 2 1/2 hours to get the thing on and it still doesnt fit corectly. All and all if I had it to do again I would go with K&N or Airaid. Just my 2 cents.

I just put mine on last night and am very satisfied with it so far. It added some low end torque in addition to the high RPM power that I had expected. I also have the nice four barrel of old sound even at part throttle.
The reason I chose the velocity tube is because I had already purchased a K&N filter before I found these message boards. Some other products may be better, I don't have anything to compare to. Mine was $95 with shipping, plus around $50 for the cost of the filter = $145. If I didn't already have the Filter I would have seriously considered other FIPK's.
Installation was very easy. As with others the most time consuming part was installing the sensor in the tube. It took less that 30 minutes total.

Thank you all for the feedback. Aside from Ramblin Wreck, the general consensus seems to be that an FIPK is the better choice, so I am ordering the Airaid today from the F150online Store.
