Question AirAid Installed, One Question?

Can anyone tell me IF the black plastic
box at the ICS controller (4.6 L '97
F150 ) REMAINs on the hose EVEN after
we place the 3/4" hose from ICS to the
new AirAid Tube?
With that remaining on, I cannot replace the
beauty cover as the hose (even clipped
slightly) protrudes up...
Hope someone can answer this. Thanks.

I think it should remain on (the 90 degree elbow), if you cut/shorten the hose that came with the Airaid system you should be able to put the beauty cover back on. Or hell just leave it off, who is going to see it?

I left the black plastic box off and used the rubber hose in its place.
everything works fine with out it and the cover goes back on with no problems.

I had the same problem with mine. I ended up putting a longer hose on the end of the ICS that connects behind the throttle body, so it hangs down a little bit, out of the way of the cover.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the many responses... I have
decided to leave the 'box' inline (and
realize it probably doesn't serve a major
purpose) and just leave the 'beauty' cover
off, as suggested.

Noting something else I want to ask about...
the Temperture sensor that fits into the
AirAid tube thru the 'rubber' grommet?
How far is everyone pushing that in? I mean
it fits in "overly easy" up until the last
small ridge on the AIT device. At that point
it seems to be very very hard to push it
further into the tubing... looking into the
tubing with the AIT in at the 'easy' point,
looks about right, but so loose I'm afraid
it might vibrate out of the tube???
How far did you folks get that into the tube?
Right up to the widest point on the AIT or
to before that, the first real 'ridge' or'lip'. Thanks.

I had the same issue with the AIT device. I also measured how far it was in the stock intake, and used the same reference point for the Airaid installation.

It make a great sound, no?

It was tough (both physically and mentally, I doubt they are inexpensive to replace), but I put it in to the widest point, as far in as it was on the stock set up. Its pretty snug once you get it in there.

Flareside indicates "but I put it in to the widest point, as far in as it was on the stock set up. Its pretty snug once you get it in there." and that would require some
real muscle... now tell me, when you measured, did you find that you ended up
sticking it in "all the way" as Flareside
did? Or was yours (like mine is now) just
displaying ONLY the actual SENSOR and small
protectors inside the air tube?
Thanks.
