Unhappy Burned my motor down

My motor is shot. I burned out the #6 cyl. I was coming out of town on my way home from a day of shopping and passed one of my buddy's from home(2000 chevy k1500). He came up behind my and tryed to pass but, I wouldn't let him. We ran 95-100 for about 35 miles until he turned off to stop at the bar for a drink. I contnued for home about 25 more miles(slowd down to 75). I was just about home when the motor started missing(thought it was just a wheel vibration at first). When the ckeck engine light came on it wouldn't hardly pull itself into town. I stoped at the shop and cleared the codes and thought it would take care of things. I restarted the engine and I still had the miss. So today I put 25 miles on it to get the light to come back on and found the #6 cyl to be bad. The only god thing about this is that I wooped up on the Chevy w/ a blown engine, you gotta love that!!!

The other nice thing about the bad motor is that now I can get all the motor mods I wanted in the first place(blown 300 horse) In the words of Tim (the tool man) Taylor 0,0,0.

Sorry to flame, but if all that happened to you was a burned up engine -- consider yourself lucky!! If you were racing at 95-100
on public roads-- you deserve much worse --Think what an F150 could do to someone backing or pulling out of their drive -- not expecting someone to be driving 100 MPH. Notice-- I am worried about someone else you hit -- NOT YOU -- you need to be taken off the road -- any way possible.

Cool

Markmizzou

Get a life and go have some fun. Just because some people drive fast once in a while doesn`t make them unsafe drivers.
Are you perfect?. Don`t tell me you never
drive fast or speed every now and then.
Sorry to flame you but thats my opinion.

There is a place for speed and racing, it is called a racetrack! Heard of one? 1/4 mile, 1/8th mile, autocross or road course?

I speed maybe 5-10 over at times, but in a truck at that speed you do not have the control or ability to react like you do in a sports car.

Do us all a favor and keep it off the road. It never amazes me people do it, but people that post it in writing are plain STUPID! Just think, you get in an accident. Your attorney or the other party sees your post about boasting about speeding and racing on the street. There goes your case!

I'm sure you sinless people have never exceeded the speed limit before. Besides if the speed limit was 75 do you think that an extra 25mph is going to make very much difference if you hit another vehicle???? We're not driving a model T here. Our vehicles today are a little more technologically advanced and very capable of being safe at 75+ mph. You people are probably those that drive 10 under the speed limit in the fast lane which is much more dangerous than a person paying close attention while driving at 75+ mph. It is a proven fact that speed does not necessarily increase the % of accidents. Wait what am I doing feeding the trolls?

Sorry for getting you guys all bent out of shape but, have any of you been to North Dakota. You can travel up to 60 miles and meet only 6-7 cars. Its not like driveing on the freeway in Dallas. I know this is no excuss but, my reason for starting this post was the motor has and should be able to take this kind of speed and RPS's(3000-3400) and I shouldn't have to worry. My tech is going to pull off the valve cover to see whats going on in there. Now he said maybe I just broke a valve or valve spring.

By the way I would love to go race on the track but, the nearest 1/4 mile track is 350 miles away & this was a spir of the moment thing.

Fast DEW,

Thats the point of the post, if I knew I was going to get flamed for not letting a chevy pass me on the highway I would have deleted all the details. Then everyone would ask me what I was doing at the time of the burn down.

I have towed snowmobile trailers over 1500 miles(3000 lbs) in one trip with the tac at 3000-3500 R's.(overdrive locked out)

The question I have is Y did the cyl burn down?

Murfster,
I'm at about 74,500 miles.

Howdy!

OMG yall! Let's all trade in our trucks for a Honda Insight. Yeah, we'll all fit into one! And it gets great mileage too. Problem is, no 100 mph here..

------------------
My ride:

Basics:
- '99 XLT F-150

Under hood and back:
- Ram air (Don't ask me how )
- AiRaid intake
- Flowmaster DF 50 Series
- 24x3.5" Stainless steel slashed tips (Yes! Solid polished SS, no cheesy chrome-plated)
...

Outside:
- Precision polished billet grille and plate holders
- American Racing 17x8s polished Pythons (Flushed front AND back)
- Goodyear.. something tires (Expensive is all I know. LOL. No Firestone firecrackers for me either)
- Rhino liner
- Ford nerf bars
- Ford bed rails
...

Inside:
- My girlfriend!
...

Fun stuff:
- Dual sirens Black Widow alarm system/keyless entry (Enough decibels to go deaf in a garage )
- Custom driving lights (Just a cool blue)
- 2 High-Watt lights behind grille (For people who cut me off )
- Dual horns (For people who, again, cut me off)
- Dual wheel locks (So I won't be driving home on bricks!)
- Spare wheel lock (So I won't have to use a brick as a spare )
...

Best of all:
- Texas A&M University aTm front plate! Gig'em Aggies!!

I will be getting my new truck in about a month. It’s a 2001 F-150 4x4 Sport, regular cab short bed, with a 4.6 and a 5 speed. Black

I currently drive an 86 GMC 2wd regular cab long bed, with a two-year-old crate 350 and a 4-barrel.

I can do 115 with it and do it regularly. I don’t give a dam about other people pulling out or backing out cause I only do it on the highway and only when there is nobody on the road.

Most of the time I do 65.

The difference between 75 and 100 is minimal when getting into an accident. Either way your gonna die.

So I’ll keep doin 115, and when I get my new truck I’ll do 115 in that one too. Just stay outa my way, it’s the slow people who cause all the accidents.

If it wasn’t for old wussy drivers their wouldn’t be any road rage.

No flaming intended, but I love finding drivers doing 115MPH. They squirm well in hand-cuffs. I tell them they are new and eventually they will get more comfortable.

Most of the time I do 65.
Ahh...comon...why not 115MPH all the time??

The difference between 75 and 100 is minimal when getting into an accident. Either way your gonna die..
Hey, I do agree with you on something. Hitting an immovable object at 75 or 100 (115??)... eh, what's the difference?? I think we should make driving a sport and add more immovable object in the roads. Those who survive...win! Those who can't handle the 115 drilling through a bridge truss. Oh well... Call it "population implosion".

Kule! Hey, comon down south! I hear they don't have speed laws. Can drive faster than 115! {i smell a setup}

If it wasn’t for old wussy drivers their wouldn’t be any road rage.
Gosh, you are so right! I had never thought about that in that manner. We should get those danged drivers off the road immediatly! We need to make room for all those doing 100MPH plus!

I am now writing my local legislator. We need some friggin laws!

Question

Hey guys,

Sorry to try to get back to the point of my post-If you guys want to keep flaming each other about the speed you drive don't mind me.

If I promised never to speed again would somone tell me if they ever expereanced this kind of engine prob or known somone that has.

My argument isn't the speed its that the engine should be able to pull those kind of RPM's for 60 miles without any trouble.

Yes! It's definately not the same as a big city. We have a lot of 4-lane roads where you can drive a lot of miles and not pass or be passed. On some 2-lane you could drive 50 miles at night and not see another car. N.D. is also very flat and has few trees. When you do get to the top of a hill you may be able to see that there are no cars for 5 miles+. A light or best traffic day in a big city is like the worst traffic day here. I've never been in a traffic jam in N.D. in my whole life, but been in a few while visiting Minneapolis and Denver.
