Question Changing Over To Synthetic "Question"

Question for the oil experts!

My truck now has 11,000KM on it and was wondering if I need to use an "engine flush" before I change over to the Amsoil synthetic?

Just curious because it has so little kilometers on it and wondering if the motor needs to be flushed first.

No, not with that few klicks.

Where are you buying Amsoil in Calgary? I've been using Mobil 1 since Amsoil and Royal Purple are so hard to find here.

I usually don't recommend an engine flush until 20,000 miles. That would be 33,000 KM's

I would recommend it actually. I just changed my newest F150 over to Amsoil with only 5k miles on it. That little extra cost for the flush is well worth it in my opinion. While Amsoil is fully compatible with Dino oils I didnt wanted as little as possible left in my engine. That stuff works great too, really cleaned that thing out. So in my opinion yes, do a flush, that little extra piece of mind is well worth the $5-6.

2001 - If you have been changing your oil and filter on a regular basis then you do *NOT* need to flush your engine. You will be just fine to switch over to the AMSOIL.
