Question Mods and tow rating

Is the only reason a 5.4 has a higher tow rating than a 4.6 because of the HP & Torque if they are equally equiped? If so, would a chip, exhuast and K&N raise they tow rating?

Cool

The 5.4L trucks have a 9.75" rear axle vs. the 8.8" in the 4.6L trucks. Other than that I can't think of much besides the additional power, especially if the 4.6 has a tow package (and of course you are fortunate enough to actually get upgraded cooling).
