Unhappy 4.6L LACKING POWER

I own a 1997 F1-50 XLT 4*4 extended cab with the 4.6L V-8 and it seens to be lacking power, and always shifting in and out of overdrive at 90 km per hour, it has 132000 kilometers on it. before it had no problem squealling the tires, but now it can't squeal the tires at all. the truck is bone stock right now but i was thinking of installing one of the K&N FIPK if i couldnt get the power back. i havent changed the plugs in it because I bought it used and figured the dealer would have changed them when i bought it, also i was going to try changeing the fuel filtre to see if it will help. any help would be greatly apprectated.

You might want to try a Superchip. Go to the Computer chips section and read up and see what you think. I've had one in my truck for almost 3 years with no problems. Added 25 HP to my V6 and brought it to life. You should get about 25-30HP with a chip. Hope this helps.

Just wondering but what size tire and what rear end ratio do you have?

Black Truck I've got the stock 245/75R16 tires on it and im not sure what rear end ratio I have. Does anyone know how you can find this out? is it the tag on the rear end? if so would i have to bring in the numbers to my dealer to get them to tell me? Thanks again.

I can allmost guarantee that you have 3.55 gears, allmost all 4.6 have them.

I would sugest you get some red line , or Tecktron fuel injector cleaner and see if that helps.Sometimes the fuel injectors can get clogged and rob you of some power. Also changing the fuel filter is never a bad idea.

I think you should do a complete tune up on your truck first. Cause it is possible that the dealer didnt change them, because mine werent changed when i bought my truck. Anyways after you do the tune up and do get a power inprovement then go for a superchip and gears if you just want to get power to ur wheels. good luck
