How do you know if it's Romeo or Windsor?

If you look on the Drivers side Valve cover it should say Windsor or Romeo on the Bar-Code sticker. At least mine does. If not, than do a search on VIN here on the website. Someone has posted it before I just cant remember who and when.
Hope this helps

The eigth digit of your VIN denotes the engine. They are backwards to what one would think they should be.

THANKS GUYS! I looked up some old posts as well and got educated.
I am the proud owner of a Windsor 4.6 which appears to be better built according to the posts I read. A little beefier. The only problem was piston slap and at 130,000 miles I don't have that problem.

I have had both engines and both engines are as good as the other. The Windsor has floating piston pins and the Romeo has a fixed pin and a smaller connecting rod. The trade off is a stronger rod vs a lighter recopricating mass and an ability to rev quicker. Ponder this; the 5.4 has a floating pin and engine knock.
