1997-2001 4.6 romeo vs 2002-2003 4.6 romeo

i have been looking for a 4.6l romeo engine for my 2002 f150 and i keep finding 97-2001 on ebay.

are those interchangeable?

for some reason the 2002 to 2003 are more expensive and are specifically 02-03 labelled.

i was wondering if i can get a 97-01 motor and if it will go right in or if i need to do modifications for it to work in my 2002 f150.

thanks for your reply.

I think you can use a 2001 if it's later production with PI heads.
