Thumbs up Ford Powerforce concept...the next F-150???

Posted this over in the General Discussion forum but I thought it might get more exposure here.

Came across this online. Could this be the next F-150? It is similar to the Tonka Concept which has been confirmed to provide styling cues for the next gen F-150.

This truck looks so sweet. With looks like this and a 305 HP 3 valve 5.4 I better start savin my pennies cause I want to be the first one on the block with one of these beauties. Im sure there will be some changes but I hope that this is very close to the '04 F-150.

Looks to much like a SuperDuty with a built in grill guard, check the doors, windows and mirrors. It looks like they were lifted straight off an '02 F250 SD. Maybe this is the 'Tonka-ized' version of the new SD

I definitely like the front, but the rest of it is pure SD. I would hope they could come up with something a little more original for the next F150.

Funny...

Thats what most people said when the current style came out. I dont know...I think this could be very close. I think it was the March or April issue of Truck Trend that did a cover story on the Tonka concept truck. Someone from Ford, Im not sure who, confirmed that the F-150 redesign and even the Ranger would be based on the Tonka concept. And Blue Oval News has stated this week that the 04 F-150 will be getting a 305 HP 3 valve 5.4 and "Super Duty styling cues."

I think the way it was termed was that the Tonka concept "hints at the future look of the next F-150" not that it would be 'based' on the Tonka concept. Personally, I'm less than impressed... If the next F-150 looks anything like the picture I'll be holding on to what I've got for some time!

In my opinion, both Dodge and Chevy's current models aren't as good looking at the ones they replaced. Sure hope Ford doesn't follow the same path...

seems like the "bigger is better" approach is at work. even if the truck doesn't change size, it LOOKS bigger. Definately a more aggressive look.

Very Hot design! I love it and would be standing in line for one. My only dislike is the push bar look of the front bumper.

It looks tough and mean the way a FORD truck should look if it is the next style look out Chevy and Dodge as FORD would put you into more shame.

I like it, even if it does resemble a super duty. I guess that;s because I would really love to have a super duty. My only dislike is the front grill/bumper setup with that built in push bumper. That would be a nightmare to put a billet grill in, unless it was an overlay design. I hope they keep the 35in tires on it and the LED turning signal and the HID headlights. I hope the rumors of IRS are not true. I am kind holding off till I see a final design before I even seriously think about a new truck.

What's that behind the cab goign through the flaring, is that a exhaust stack? That would be chessy.

This Powerforce concept came out in around 98, so i dont THINK that this will be the new design of the F150, but i will not say no. It was at the Houston Auto Show as a concept during 98 however, i do remember that.

I like it!
Remember that Ford has several different configurations of the current F150. They differ in appearance. So will the next gen.
I'm not one for the lifted 4X4 look. I think that it could look real good low to the ground, all color keyed..... I am waiting for the next gen Lightning!
I think it takes all a while for a new design to "grow on us". Give the next gen a chance.

Cool

You guys have to remember that they bring out concepts to see what the people like. Just this past January, Ford had the big Tonka Superduty Truck on display. It got a lot of attention, that is what Ford and any other company is looking for.

Remember this truck ....

This truck was a previous design concept to the actual 1997 Pickup design that everyone is now buying. The truck was at the North American International Auto Show in 1995. Also, remember that the Expedition face is designed off of the F150 and it already has a new face to it. So maybe we have already seen the new look just that Ford actually hasn't told the world yet. Who know till they come out?

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'
Dean

As someone already mentioned, this picture is over 4 years old. It was the pre-production picture of the current 99 and up SuperDuty.
