Angry 5.4 Engine cold start knock

I have 99 F-150 w/5.4 Liter...Started cold knock only, then worse, dealer replaced engine at 30,000 mi with renewal[rebuilt] engine. Replacment engine now knocking on cold start...Ford tech told dealer this is normal w/5.4 Liter due to longer stroke/piston skirt length. Ford will do nothing!! I'm ready to sue, What have they been smokin? Anybody hear of this bull lately?

I have been thru the exact same scenario. My FQR actually knocks louder than my original AND it knocks lightly even when it's warm. Dealer says Ford will not replace again.

Trading in on a SuperDuty or Chevy/GMC HD...

Thumbs down

It's really sad that FORD seems to be taking the stance that this is "normal" and they will "not replace" the engine again. Keep on the dealership and FORD...the cold knock problem is NOT normal.

How complete was the replacement engine (eg: was is a 'short block' or was it complete with heads/cams, etc)?

Did they ever explain why they were so generous to replace the first engine?
PS this will probably be my last Ford.

Hey Guys,
Check out my saga on The Great FQR Rip Off, Ford will replace your motors again and again. It probably wont solve your problems (it did not solve mine, so Ford finally bought my '99 back after 4 motors (3FQR)

Its a long read, but its has some info you guys need to read.

Keep fighting!
