Cool

insect2- Of course millions of personal and fleet vehicles have gone hundreds of thousands of miles on conventional oil. That doesn't mean it's a superior product.

No, but it might suggest that Synthetics are just a waste of money for most drivers. Especially those who change at 3000 miles anyway. I'm still not convinced.

Insect2 I see where you are coming from. Looking at it from only the financial standpoint one would think it would cost less to use cheaper, conventional oils. For me it is much less expensive to use synthetic. I travel a little over 30k miles a year in my truck. It use to cost me about $17 dollars every month or so to change my oil myself, when I was on the road and it needed changed I had it done and usually cost about $28-30. To make it easy say on average it cost me $20 each oil change and I usually change it month using dyno oil. That was costing me $240.00 a year just in oil changes!!! Using Amsoil I change my oil annually. Each quart of oil cost me a little under $4. My Truck takes 6 Quarts, The filter I change every 6 months and each one costs me a little less than $9.00 each. So, in the course of one year using Amsoil I have invested $42.00 and less than 1/2 hour of my time to change my oil. So financially this is a sound investment to me. Although, even if the tables had turned and the dollar signs were opposite it would still be a no brainer to me which oil to use. Hope this helps!

Thumbs up

jeffrandol, I second that. The cost is there. $18-23 each time say every 2 months X 6 =$108-$138. Amsoil (1 cs. of 12) $65.00 + 4 Filters = $100.00 (that is two oil changes),(now you have 2 years of oil changes) & Wal-Mart will change it for you for $8.95. So you want get dirty. Not bad. And you are getting GREAT OIL. Remember with "Amsoil You Can't Go Wrong". Good Luck

You are right Max. I didn't mean to imply that conventional oil was superior, just that if a person uses conventional motor oil and changes it and the filter every 3,000 miles or more often, they can still get several hundred thousand miles out of their engine. So if a person keeps a truck for 8 to 10 years, why not just use regular oils and pocket the savings.
