My rear main seal is leaking badly. I'm planning on replacing it this weekend. Does anyone know of any complications with lowering the tranny, realligning the clutch, ect.
Completly stock 88 F150
300 cid Straight 6

Any help greatly appreciated

I've never changed a rear main but I do suggest you buy a shop manual. Read throught the proper parts and I think things should go easier.

I have a chiltons manual, but it doesn't get into as much detail as I was hoping regarding the installation of the transmission.I have a friend that is going to help me but he is a dodge fan (ouch), and isn't familiar with manual transmissions.
I was wondering if there are any little hang-ups I might encounter while putting the tranny back in.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Changed a manual trans. before and if you can get the front splined shaft off an old trans. the same as yours to line up the clutch and pressure plate with it is easier than man handling the trans. around.
