Flex-a-lite rocks!
What the... plastic fan blade. Mine is pure metal, all steel. So I must have more mass than the 8 lb plastic job. This is the mod that really needs to be done on my truck then.
I have found them cheaper than the $491 Truckperformance wants. Summit wants $389 and Jegs is $393. So right there is $100 off, if someone does find one for $250 I will be right in line to buy one.

No need to worry about your new belt, all you do is spin the fan/clutch assembly off the pulley, its threaded on. Then remove the OEM shroud.

Maybe Ford had some left-over iron when they finished the run of old body style trucks. All of the new body style F150 97+, have a Nylon Clutch fan, that I have seen. Guess your just lucky!
If you see a Flex-a-lite #270 for $250-hold on to your money! That is a LOT less than what the wholesale price is. So it's probably not a #270.
I asked WarEagle to check a couple of things to see if it is the #270, it may be a #210 - dual 12" fan. Which would explain the need for custom brackets and the old style temp sensor.

You are probably right about the left over iron bit. My truck is an early 97 (door sticker 1996) and the engine is stickered with a tag that says Windsor, Canada 11-3-95. My clutch fan is a metal (aluminuim?) unit and fan is the old stamped steel stuff. I haven't really noticed that my truck is slower than any of the newer ones, it actually seems pretty fast to me. I just hate that annoying roar on warm days on take-off and the fact that my fan clutch needs to be replaced.
I guess we all better watch people trying to pawn off the #210 kit as a #270. So let me rephrase... if anybody finds a TRUE #270 for less than even 350 let me know.

since all you guys are looking at these fan kits i would reccomend a new water pump. they have the cobra R ones that all the tuners sell for about 100 or you can get one from a lincoln mark VIII from ford parts online for 70. these pumps eliminate the shaft for the fan... the fan is actually attached to the end of the water pump. and this pump is supposed to flow better and be lighter. do a search on it and you should come up with some more info. i was also wondering if the flex a lite fan kit comes with a wireing harness or so you need to wire up the relays yourself. also does it come on with the AC automaticly.... i know JDM maked a fan kit that is supposed to be geed, but it only has a single 16 in fan i believe..

I had the right fan, wrong price. I looked for the reciept but couldn't find it. I should have typed $350 not $250. That isn't the exact amount but it wasn't too much more, definately less than $400. The fans work great. The only minor thing is they are loud.
You should be able to find them for between $350 and $400. Sorry for the typo!

Good idea on the water pump also! Yeah, Cheapest Ive seen is the 380-389 price on the 270s. Wonder if the price will go down after a while..
