Post 5.4 Cold Engine Knock

I recently purchased a new 2001 Lariat Screw 5.4 4x4. My concern is a cold engine knock in the morning. It lasts about 5 minutes or so then quiets. The engine seems loud in the cab. Should I be concerned? I also noticed a clunk in the drive train when accelerating around a corner from a stop. Last but not least, the exhaust STINKS.. I have a 99 Expy with the same engine and it doesn't rattle.

Please Advise
Thanks...

The Engine knock is piston slap. Ford says it doesn't hurt the engine. That is open to debate. The exhaust smell is normal. They put a special coating inside the Cat to prevent rust. Well the coating smells bad when it gets hot. My V10 in my Excursion stinks also.

Take your truck to the dealer in the afternoon. Park it. Take your keys. Go back the next morning and start it up with the service manager, service writer, and lead mechanic standing by.
