Question Larger oil filter be used on remote loccation?

Can a larger oil filter be used on the remote filter location? Looks like there is room, but, how about the filter threads and the diameter of rubber seal?

Is anybody doing this? If so, what filter?

Seems like a bigger Mobil 1 filter would flow better/last longer.

Your thoughts?

There's nothing that says you have to stick with the OEM size, if the threads, faces, and O-ring mate up.

The easiest way to find out is to compare an OEM with the Mobil-1 at the store.

I moved up a size when I remoted the filter on my T-bird. It's got 170,000 on it with no ill effects. The filter I used was a "quart- sized" System-1 oil filter. That was definitely not OEM.

Just wondering if anybody has a part number for a larger Mobil One filter that would fit the remote filter location.

Guess that I would have to add a little bit more oil too during oil changes to accomodate for the larger filter size.

Problem is finding a larger filter.

I called amsoil and the SDF-11 is the largest with the metric threads. If it were american threads I could use a 2 quart filter!

To my knowledge, there isn't a larger filter that can replace the FL-820. (I could be wrong, though) I know the FL-400 and the FL-1A shared the same seal and threads, and I believe there is a smaller one that will match the threads and seal of the 820, but I've never seen a larger one.
