How to tell if you have PI heads???
Now you might think, "How did they have exactly enough engines to switch over when the very first '99 came down the line?"
The answer is, the earlier 235hp rated 5.4L continued to go into the '99 Super Duty as a base engine while the F150 got the upgrade that year.

Gentleman,
I ask because.................any of us who have a FQR replacement 5.4..............better check what heads we got!
I have a bad feeling that I got the old heads on mine! I have called Ford and tried to get some info......of course they just run you around.
Therefore, I have a 99, BUT I cannot assume I have PI's........how can I tell?

HI!... 67MIKE : Take a look through you wheel well on the passenger's side of your truck. Look at the very front of the head just below the valve cover. There is a casting # and by it it will have two larger letters saying "P.I" . If you don't have that stamped into the casting, then you don't have "P.I" heads.

Thanks to Neal for letting me know how to confirm this (look close, their pretty small and can be missed in poor light or if your motor is dirty
)
