MAC Intake Performance System

I just installed a MAC air intake system on my 2001 Super Crew. Went on great and fits very well.

My neighbor has a 2000 Supercab with an Airaid, and we both like the MAC better. It looks great with a chrome tube and fits far better that a K&N FIPK that I had on a 98 Ford 4X4.

The best part is that it was only $139 directly from MAC, plus only $5 shipping. My neighbor is really mad he spent over $100 more for the Airaid.

The MAC also has a black powercoated "hood" to help draw the outside air in thru the hole in the fender. Also, there are small brackets that "pop" into the exact rubber bushings that the stock filter housing uses.

It is by far the best I have seen, especially for the money.

The next thing is a Diablo chip - should be here any day-I hope!!!

Do you have any pics of the black powdercoated hood? I also have the MAC, but I bought it last summer and it doesn't have that hood your talking about. Must be a new thing.

Hi 99 Flairside

I don't have any pics, yet, but I plan to take a couple soon....

The ":hood" is a metal bracket that mounts directly to the stock air filter mounts and the filter attaches to one side and the mass air unit attaches to the other side...

It has a couple of shields to help direct air from the opening in the fender...it looks pretty neat, but I don't know if it works or not...

Also, did you eliminate the small air box that goes between the air tube ant the throttle body? THere was a chrome tube that I think was supposed to replace that unit....

The lights are 01+ Lightning taillights. I bought it from a local Ford dealer before Ford decided to raise the prices on all the Lightning lights.

I guess it must be an updated design, and I am not sure if it does much good....looks like it should help direct outside air to the intake.....

I don't know if MAC would sell them seperately.

Thanks for the info on the little chrome tube....the directions didn't refer to it, so I wasn't sure .....guess it is a-ok
