Hope it's true. The funny thing is, why would the 4 valve heads have less hp than the 3 valve. The torque should at least be the same for both engines.
Really the area of the valves is more critical but in either case the intake velocity changes are the key.

Once you have a larger valve area the lower end torque will often decrease slightly due to lower velocities. Assuming that the new 5.4 follows the trend of the older one then the 4 valver could just be too much for good low rpm power.

As for output, they may have some tricks up their sleeves for the 4 valvers as well but we will see.

Also remember the Cobra R is a 4 valve engine and has no trouble making HP.

that v-6 diesel, rumor has it, will have HEUI actuated injectors (as current 7.3 DIT) and........HEUI valves!!!! Soo, I guess camshafts will be a thing of the past, gone the way of breaker points, carburetors, and survivng on an honest living. Later....
