Ram air or open element?
Ram air or open element?
I am considering 2 intake types. One is the stage one ram air from JL (yes it will work with minor mod.), or an open air type (airforce 1, k&n, airaid, etc). What would be my best choice for the most performance gains? I have a 2000 with the 4.6 in it. thanks
I would get the JL set-up if, as you say, you can make it work/fit. I used his for some time and then exchanged it for another filter kit.
Btw, I have the Air Force One kit on my 97 4.6L, xlt.

Well if you have a 2 wheel drive without fog lights, I can't tell you.
I have a 2 wheeler with a 4X4 lower front valance and foglights, I cut out the tow hook area in the valance on the drivers side and mounted the scoop there. I had to cut the scoop to fit it in, and I used a fernco plug, and cut it out so the flex hose fit in it, then used it to attach the flex hose to the stock airbox. I also put in so one way valves(into airbox) so there is no resritiction in the system when the truck is moving slow or at a stop and I mash it.
