Red face Dead in the water

My F 250 , with a 300 cuin 6 died on the driveway while plowing this week. Ether doesn't get a pop of it. Gas is ok, seems to have no spark. Seems this happened once before and the mechanic replaced a small rectangular module on , in, or near the distributor. Anyone hlp with this? It's goning to snow again today. Thanks, Larry.

Sounds like you are talking about a TFI module. TFI means thick film integration. It's pretty easy to swap out. Pick up some dielectric grease when you get the part. This usually only causes it to stall when hot. It should start up cold unless this has been going on for a while.

Didn't California or some other state sue Ford to get them to recall all the vehicles that used this?

Check with your local dealer. There may be a recall on this and the cost of repair could be covered.

i think its still in court here in ca for the recall
but iwould also check the stator inside the distb. as well if the tfi mod. got hot then most likely the stator did too if its soft where the tfi connects to the stator then its bad too

Cool

The TFI gets hot as hell in the stock location. If you want a beter setup, go with a setup like the SN95 Mustangs have. The TFI is located away from the ditributor and engine and is encased in a nice heat sink unit.
