Baj
How much per quart is the Royal Purple.

Castrol GTX 5w-30
Motorcraft FL-400S (v6) Filter

My brother and I use Castrol... his truck (Chev 4.3) is run very hard on a daily basis and is now at 200,000 miles without any oil related problems. Its made a believer out of me.

I also agree that the Motorcraft filter is a good one. I always hear bad stuff about Fram.

A good read on oil filters

http://minimopar.net/oilfilterstudy.html

An interesting read. Seems to be reproduced on many different sites...

I'm waiting for the Amsoil (re-badges Hastings I think) to get published...but I'm not sure the page gets updated anymore.

Well not sure if you are looking for suggestions
or not but this subject seems to boil down to
personel preferance or what ever will give you
peace of mind because if changed often enough
3,000-5,000mi most oils that are SAE&API rated
will do the trick. As far as which oil is best you
ask 10 people you will probably get 10 diffrent
opinions and most likely to notice a diffrence
you would need to tear the engine down once
a year or so to verify any diffrence in protection
from one brand or another, Or believe what the
manufacturer says their oil will do. For me i use
Mobil 1 5w30 not because i have proof it's better
it's just what i chose to run, My previous truck
was a 1990 Chevy 5.7L and i used nothing but
Valvoline 10w30 and sold it at 190,000 mi with
no problems and bought my 2000 F150 and at
58,000 mi have had no problems with it.
Bottom line use what you wish and follow at
least Fords recommended change frequency
and drive.

02 laser,

Whem using 0w30 how well does it protect while driving on 90 degree heat???????? Also how is your mileage, performance and all that. BTW, I use AMSOIL 5w30 and SDF filter. My truck seems ok with this.
