Post need some answers on towing performance please.

What truck can tow more and carry a higher payload in the bed...

my dads f-150 4.2 auto 3.08 rearend,xcab,styleside.

or my future f-150 4.6 manual 3.55 rearend, regcab flareside?

also, my current truck is a 2k ranger xcab manual 3.0 3.73 rearend flareside sport. Will the f-150 be faster in all aspects (0-60, 1/8mi, 1/4mi etc?) or will it be slower because its so much heavier?
Thanks!

hit the http://www.ford.com site for the GVW and the towing capabilites of each vehicle. You will need to know what payload package each truck has also.

Performance, most like the F150. the 3L is a dog, but lighter than the 150. It would be close.

Wont even be close. I have a 2000 Ranger Supercab, with the 3.0 and 5 speed, 3.73. What a pile, it works for going back and forth to work in L.A. but other than that it sucks. The truck is a DOG compared to my 4.6L auto F150.

i second that. my 98 ranger 3.0l 5 speed off road regular cab was quite the dog. i guess the new and old 4.0l in em are pretty lackluster too. i drove a brand new explorer with the 4.0l and was quite dissapointed with that too. all ford vehicles should come with a 5.4l lol oh i was wondering what will a f250 heavy duty exteneded cab 4x4 with the v-10 do for performance? how would it stack up to an isuzu hombre 4x4 4.3l

The 4.0L is a great little engine! dead reliable also! In the rangers they can fly! I had a larger MAF, TB, exhaust and chipped it. 200hp out of the motor! It spun 31" tires with the 3.73s all the way thru 1st and 2nd. In the explorer, you have a few more pounds to hinder performance.
