Question Timing chain

I never can find it listed anywhere when to change the timing chain on a 4.6 liter engine. Does anyone know, I believe the 4.6 is an interference motor so I don't want to wait too long and have mine break.
Thanks
Mike

I think by the time the timing chain needs replacement, the engine needs an overhaul.

Timing chains rarely break. Timing belts, on the other hand, requires regular replacement.

BTW, I understand our engines have a pretty neat timing chain. There's a self-adjuster that's supposed to take up slack as the chain wears down without it affecting the timing of the cams.

As Far as I know you do need to change both types of belts (Rubber/Chain type). Because with time they do strech out and cause the timming to change. Im not sure at how many miles you should change at.

Take a look at an Haynes manual. The Ford engineers came up with a pretty neat self adjuster for the timing chain on the Triton engines. It is adjusted using the oil pressure of the engine!
