Post v-10 Break-in period

I'm going to get my new truck on the 28 and was wondering what the correct break-in procedure is? When can I use it to pull 6K?
Also about oil I like Quaker State but 10-40 or 10-30 would be better? Thanks BLT

Your manual will give you your vehicle's official break in steps. Most likely it will say to drive it moderately and at varying RPMs for the first 1000 miles. However, you will get varying advise from every person you talk to.
refer to the discusion "Break in period?" started by ChrisB (I think) under "Engines" date: around 2-14-2001 for some more info.

As far as towing is concerned, I may wait until the 1000 miles period is up before I do any serious towing.
Oil: use your vehicles recommended weight oil (brand is up to you) most vehicles today are designed for 5W-30 oil (my 5.4l says to use 5W-20!!!). I would not use 10W-30 or 10W-40.
