What the heck is an "ODEMETOR"?

Come on guys, give this guy a break. Maybe he's actually got an "ODEMETOR" on his truck he wants to disconnect. I don't think my truck came with one, but I'm going to look tonight when I get home from work. Maybe it's covered in the Service CD I bought. I'll keep everyone posted.

Oops, I just remembered. To disconnect your "ODEMETOR", you must first remove your head out of your a_s. The rest should be intuitively obvious.

Since I been coming to this site there has been someone asking this ? every couple of months makes you wonder if its the same person using a different name each time. Seeing how he hasn't posted anything except for his 3 post on this topic.

Tehy had no idea how or why it happened and quess what they could'nt do sh*t but you guessed it turn off the odometer and replace it cost me close to 300 dollars maybe this guy dont want to pay 300 like me and is simply tring to replace his odometer

Cool

OK, here's the formula......
Read everything very carefully before starting....
Disconnect both battery terminals
Connect the positive to the negative post
Connect the negative to the positiove post

Obtain a 220 volt extension cord

Splice the jumper connectors clamps to ne end.

Plug the other into an outlet

attach cables to battery terminals

start engine

KerrrBammmm, your odemeter is now cleared...out of the car, with your battery, airbags, fuel tank, Hmmmmmmmmmm, what else could turn onto a projectile...I know ...the driver!

Thumbs down

Hey guys,

Actually my @$$hole friend tried to do the same thinkg this moron is trying to do on his '98 Ranger to keep his miles down for his lease. Well, he managed to do it by pulling a sequence of fuses. Hovever, he lost use of his speedometer and ruined his radio somehow. So what he gained in NOT having to pay $0.15 a mile over 36,000 miles, he lost in having to pay a $250 speeding ticket and buying a $300 radio. So weigh the consequences, let your Mommy drive you around if you don't want to put miles on your truck.

Stay out of my taildust,

Mike

I agree, I sure dont want to buy a truck that has had its odometer disconnected.

On a interesting note, I found this out by accident. Our trucks actually add milage to the odometer while backing up. W=hatever that is worth.

Ive had my truck 15 days and already have over 3,000 miles on her. I drive about 70 to 80,000 miles a year and this year will do it in style with a 2000 f150 4x4. I will sell it with actual mileage next January and buy another dealer leftover. The buyers I come across don't mind mileage as long as vehicle has been maintained and serviced properly.I also heard any 99 or newer vehicles have mileage connected to computer so even changing a speedo odometer will result in actual mileage being displayed.

You obviously love your truck if you have so many miles on it.
Just buy out the lease, it's cheaper than buying a used F150.
If you want a new F150 trade it in, most dealers will negotiate the extra miles in the purchase of the new truck if it is in good condition otherwise.

Red face

FYI the US attorney General has established a task force to fight modern day odometer fraud
I hear if you drive across state lines its federal also If you mail a false odometer statement or do anything connected with selling the vehicle thru the mail they will get you for mail fraud also.
Just wanted to make sure everyone knew this.
Mine is a 2000 model and I already have 24,000 miles!

"U.S. Attorney Stern encouraged anyone who discovers that a vehicle was subjected to odometer tampering to contact law enforcement. He explained that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has established a special hotline to handle odometer fraud complaints. Individuals having information relating to odometer tampering
should call (800) 424-9393 or (202) 366-4761."

Cool

Your are all DUMB ******S. Like stay blown said, he DIDNT say:

"Oh hey (heee yuck) I want to disengage it to let some sucker white trash loser buy it thinking it has less miles"

He JUST ASKED A SIMPLE QUESTION, so why dont you stop attacking and sending FEDERAL LAWS his way, we all know its illegal (even as big as a felony) BUT we speed (illegal) put on all kinds of illegal products on our trucks (illegal) but here you sit, in your comfy chair at your computer trying to act all tough towards someone you know nothing about, and only wrote one sentence WHICH has yet to be answered due to the offtrack subject of assumption making about him. BACK THE ****** UP AND ANSWER HIS QUESTION . Thats all I have to say.
