hey guys, sorry to post a new thread but i really want to get this taken care of. i am too paraniod to drive my truck until i find out what is wrong...so i am in a rush to get it done. i had a "service engine soon" light. i checked the codes and found it to be dtc 5284 . on the stang sight it said oil pressure switch failure. i do not know if they are the same...does anyone know what that code means?? thanks.

 

nevermind, it is a oil pressure switch failure. damn, i dunno what it is or how it happened. all i know is it sucks. could my computer be wrong?

 

My truck had that code in it when i did the instrument cluster diagnostics, but the SES light never came on for it. I disconnected the battery and turned on headlight switch to reset the computer, hooked it all back up and still no SES but also no dtc code. If the light is on, I'd just go ahead and take it to the dealer, because even after you find out what it is, if its a sensor or something that needs to be replaced, that's what the warranty is for anyway.... and if you repair it yourself you run the risk of voiding it.

I dont think that particular dtc code is causing the light to come on.

 

I saw the same thing about a year ago and asked the dealership about it. They told me it was just a calibration code and it would go away eventually. I get it every 3 or 4 months and then it goes away naturally.
