First Oil Change '02 Screw

First of all, I think I have earned the right to the phone number of the person responsible for the placement of the oil filter (LOL)!

On a more serious point, the manual states only six quarts of oil. After six quarts my Screw only shows half full. Is this normal or does she need another quart?

Thanks,

Shadow Trooper

There has not been a shortage of discussion regarding how much oil it takes to fill the 5.4. I can only tell you in my 99 Expy 5.4 it will take seven quarts to fill it. The dealer, when they change it, will also put seven in. I have had no problems, no overfill symptoms using seven to refill after changing.

I find that if I turn my wheels a litle to the right there is plenty of room to get at the filter. Of course I forgot that the other night and had to really haul on the steering wheel to get it to move enough to get the filter out. Live and Learn.

oil amount

The dip stick shows a lower and upper mark that is considered the safe zone. You do not need to fill it to the upper line.

Thanks for the replys

That steering wheel trick sounds like a winner for the oil filter.

As far as the oil quantity, I too am in the middle of the safe zone after 6 quarts. I guess that's fine, but being totally full just gives that warm and fuzzy.

Angry 0il filter

Has anyone noticed that the original oil filter is on excessively tight. I am have trouble getting it loose. I use to have a 94 Bronco and the filter was so much easier to remove. I noticed the post about turning the wheel hard right, but that thing is on very tight. any other suggestions would help.
