Underdrive Pulleys
signmaster,
Thanks for the info., if it helps to rev faster and I can get around 10 more hp and a increase in fuel mileage for $200 or less, thats worth it to me.
It would appear that with a three pulley set and an electric fan, I should see at least 20 more "real" ponies at the rear wheel as well as an increase in fuel mileage.

Hi iron horse,
My flowmaster is just a bolt on replacement muffler. I'm still using the 2.5" or whatever the stock pipe is. I couldn't justify spending the significant increase ($$$) to replace the muffler and pipe. It was something like three times the cost..... I didn't notice a big increase in power.
And, by the way, I decided to spend my tax refund on a Pioneer DEH-P740MP CD/MP3 player instead of pulleys. You can see my post in the Audio section....
Hopefully either later this year or next year, I'll add the pulleys. I'm convinced that it does make a difference.
Regards,
Kelly

I just reviewed your site. I see that you have a FlowMaster 50 muffler. Does it have a 3 inch single exit pipe? Did you see any increase in torque? Or did you gain horsepower and a decrease in torque?.................

Just found out from some very experienced F-150 guys that the ASP two piece pulley sets is one of the best. You may have some charging problems with the three piece set.

They may be different on the 4.6 pulley set, but I haven't ever seen an alternator pulley that was not smaller than stock.
Kelly,
For your info. the search function is working now. Great tool on this site. I have agonizied over what to do on my exhaust. Yestereday, I finally decided after way too much research.
I had the local muffler shop remove stock muffler and replace it with a a Full Boar muffler. My goal was to increase torque, so I left my stock pipe.
I actually "felt" a small increase in torque and can spin my tires a little more. The local muffler shop guy has been running his own shop for over twenty years. He said that he has tried every conceivable way to increase torque on the late model F-150. He confirmed what I found on this site. Larger pipe and free flowing muffler equals- loss in torque. He said you almost have to experiment with each truck! We even thought about reducing my stock pipe diameter to create more velocity! ha!

doorslammer69,
Please tell us about your steeda three piece pulley set. Are you having charging problems? Does A/C still work correctly? DO lights go dim? Is engine overheating?
Do you like them or hate them?
It uses the Mustang belt? Do you have a part no. for that? Or does steeda sell them?
When I went to the steeda site. All I found was a three piece pulley set for the late model F-150 and they said that you have to change belts.
I am trying to decide between the steeda three piece set and the ASP two piece set.
